February is heart month, to many that means Valentine’s day and love. To me and others like me it means something different. Awareness.
Heart month and CHD week are for awareness. To bring awareness to those around us and to help people to understand what fighting heart disease every day is like.
My son is a heart warrior, at 1 day old he was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) since that day his heart is on my mind every minute of every day. He has survived 8 surgeries including 2 cardiac catheters and 2 open heart surgeries. He is so brave and inspires me every day.
There is no cure for CHD, there are surgeries for repair but that is not a cure, there is a saying, “the farther you are from your last surgery, the closer you are to your next”.
A few important dates this February are:
National Wear Red Day February 7th.
CHD Awareness week February 7th through the 14th
I have created many new bodices and corsets in beautiful red fabrics to help bring awareness, including my favorite Queen of Hearts corset.
Starting Friday February 5th I will be having my annual Heart Month Sale, I will also be donating 10% of all sales to The Children’s Heart Foundation. www.childrensheartfoundation.org
